The Wine
If you want crisp, dry and refreshing in a wine, you can't do better than Muscadet. And having in the past lost out to the New World, its winemakers are working extremely hard to win consumers back, so quality and value right now are phenomenal. Robert Parker described this appellation's wines as "probably the world's greatest white wine value", while wine writer Hugh Johnson said "I can think of nothing more refreshing". The region is the most westerly in the Loire, closest to the Atlantic, so its wines always seem to hint of the sea. You'll taste that in this delicious Rserve white from fourth generation winemaker Nol Bougrier, who added a portion of lees-aged wine for added complexity. Chill down and serve with seafood or light salads.
