The Wine
Mahau Sound is the latest release from Phil and Chris Rose who in the 1970s were pioneers in planting vines in an area of Marlborough, close to the Wairau River, now known as the 'Golden Mile'. They quickly recognised the potential of its free draining, stony soil and have been making superb wines ever since. Hand tended in small batches from vine to bottle, this premium wine is the product of low yielding vines and perfectly ripe grapes, and exhibits intense fruit character and classical elegance. Phil named it, appropriately, after a favourite fishing spot, as it is absolutely brilliant with seafood. With fresh vibrant aromas of gooseberry and hints of passion fruit, it's also great with asparagus, goat's cheese or a mild, fragrant curry.
