The Wine
Portugal cultivates a myriad of exciting red grapes with challenging names, but rest assured, in expert hands they give eye-opening flavours and character capable of thrilling any but the most staid of wine lovers. Giesta is the personal project of Nuno Cancela de Abreu, a fourth generation winemaker with a life-long passion for the traditional native grape varieties of the Do region. This wine is a blend of estate grown Touriga Nacional, chosen for its ripe floral character, and Tinta Roriz (aka Tempranillo) and Jaen, for their fruit and spice. It has a wonderful natural freshness, with floral highlights and succulent, ripe red fruit flavours. Smooth, easy drinking on its own and just right for rich winter casseroles and summer grills.
